Last week I went to an awesome creative women retreat. As part of the Friday dinner we had a Diner en Blanc where we get to decorate our table and dress up in all white!
Ha ha.. They mention the re-use of wedding dresses.. Only thing was my wedding dress is NOT blue:P So I had 1 week left and decided to bite the bullet and make my own out of calico and a scrap piece of shimmery white material I got for free:D

People thought that it was beautiful! Little did they know it’s not my style.. not yet.
It was just a blank canvas;)
I took some photos along the design and sewing process below if you are interested, click “Continue reading “.

I fold the material in 1/2 then pinned the pattern where the initial fold was as seen.
Then I cut out the pattern out of calico and the nice shimmery material.
Only to realise because of the calico it was not white enough.
So I ended up adding an old white bed sheet layer.

NOTE: Pin the fabric right side up on top of each other.

Pin from outside in to the calico layer, so that the layers will hold is place and you’ll be able to remove it easily when sewing from the calico side.

This is how the bottom looks, When cutting out the pattern, I left quite a bit on the bottom so I can play with it later.
NOTE: I use the fabric’s natural hem as the bottom of the dress

Here is a little teaser of how the design looks:P
