Mysterious Creepy Crawly In The Night | Photography

Big spider on web at night
Nearly walked into this spider and it’s web while in our garden last night!

Thanks to the people at Jetto’s Patch for helping me identifying this spider and giving me some info about it.

They reckon it’s a golden orb weaver. [If she’s a golden orb spider the threads of her web will glow gold in the light.]

It’s a friend as it catches flies and  mozzies and the damn cabbage moths. They reckon it’s a her as well=p She often take her web down in the morning and rebuild it in the evening. [That is dedication]

Spiders are generally classed into ‘guilds’ based on their mode of hunting. The more guilds you have present, the richer and bio diverse and ecologically healthy your garden is.
